I.M. Pastry Studio started in 2009 as a home-based business and is comprised of owners Tiffany Washington and Tamika Young, who are mothers, wives, business women and most importantly friends.
Tiffany started baking at the young age of 8 with her grandmother Ilene Miriam (I.M.) from scratch for holidays and birthdays. After watching an episode of “Ace of Cakes” on the Food Network, she thought to herself, “I can do that.” Applying her art background with her baking skills, Tiffany started making cakes and cupcakes for close family and friends. Soon, she received orders from friends of friends and eventually strangers! From there, I.M. Pastry Studio was born.
In order to pursue her dream of owning her own business, Tiffany left her full-time job as a Production Manager at a Publishing Company, to manage the day to day operations of the business.
Tamika then joined the business a few years later, and the two women are excited to share their passion for pastries, design and pop culture that comes across through the I.M. Pastry Studio brand. As two, young African –American women becoming entrepreneurs has always been a dream for them. The two women are completely committed to making I.M. Pastry Studio a success.
In addition to being a co-owner, Tamika has a full time job as a Communications Manager for a leading music streaming service. Along with Tiffany, she is dedicated to the growth of I.M. Pastry Studio.
